Yescarta

Yescarta (axicabtagene ciloleucel) is a CAR-T cell therapy used for certain blood cancers. This prescription treatment targets CD19-positive cells in adults with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma. Administered as a single infusion in a certified medical center.

Yescarta is prescribed for adults with large B-cell lymphoma that has returned or not responded to prior treatments. It is specifically indicated after two or more lines of systemic therapy. The therapy works by reprogramming a patient’s own immune cells to recognize and attack cancer cells. It is not a first-line treatment and is reserved for advanced cases.

After infusion, patients may experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, or fatigue as the immune system activates. Some individuals report low blood cell counts, which are monitored closely. Recovery varies, and supportive care is provided during and after treatment.

Yescarta is administered in a hospital setting equipped to manage serious reactions. Patients should be monitored for signs of infection, cytokine release syndrome, or neurological events. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing dizziness or confusion post-infusion. Keep follow-up appointments to assess response and safety.

No direct drug interactions are known, but immunosuppressants or live vaccines may affect treatment outcomes.
