Yescarta

Yescarta (axicabtagene ciloleucel) is a prescription CAR T-cell therapy for certain blood cancers. It is an individualized treatment made from a patient’s own immune cells. Yescarta is given as a single infusion in a certified medical center.

Yescarta is used to treat adults with large B-cell lymphoma that has not responded to or has returned after at least two other types of treatment. It is also indicated for adults with follicular lymphoma that has not responded to or has returned after at least two other treatments. Yescarta is a form of immunotherapy designed to help the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells.

After infusion, patients may experience flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, or fatigue as the body responds to treatment. Some people notice changes in blood pressure or heart rate during the infusion period. These effects are typically monitored closely by healthcare professionals.

Yescarta is given in a hospital or clinic equipped to manage severe reactions. Patients should stay near the treatment center for several weeks after infusion. It is important to report any new or worsening symptoms, such as confusion or difficulty breathing, immediately to a healthcare provider.

There are no known drug interactions with axicabtagene ciloleucel itself, but other medications taken before or after treatment may affect how the body responds. Patients should inform their doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products they are using. Live vaccines are generally avoided during treatment.
