Vivotif is an oral typhoid vaccine containing live, attenuated Salmonella Typhi bacteria. It helps protect against typhoid fever caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. This vaccine is designed for oral use and is suitable for travelers to areas where typhoid is common. Keep refrigerated to maintain potency.

Vivotif is used to help prevent typhoid fever in adults and children over 6 years of age. Typhoid fever is a serious infection caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi, often spread through contaminated food or water. After taking Vivotif, some individuals may experience mild effects such as stomach upset, nausea, or a slight fever. These effects are generally temporary and resolve on their own. Store Vivotif in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C (35°F and 46°F) and protect it from light. Do not freeze. Take the vaccine at least 1 week before potential exposure to typhoid. If you have a weakened immune system or are taking antibiotics, consult a healthcare provider before use. Keep out of reach of children.

Antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of Vivotif, so avoid taking them within 72 hours before or after vaccination. Immunosuppressive drugs, such as steroids or chemotherapy, may also interfere with the vaccine’s ability to work. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking before receiving Vivotif.
