Vivotif is used to help prevent typhoid fever in adults and children over 6 years old. It works by stimulating the immune system to recognize and fight Salmonella Typhi bacteria. After taking Vivotif, some people may experience mild stomach discomfort or nausea. A small number of users report low-grade fever or headache. These effects are usually temporary and resolve on their own. The vaccine does not cause typhoid fever as it contains a weakened, non-disease-causing strain.
