Vivotif

Vivotif is an oral typhoid vaccine containing live, attenuated Salmonella Typhi bacteria. It helps protect against typhoid fever caused by the bacteria. This vaccine is taken as capsules for oral use. Suitable for travelers to areas where typhoid is common.

Vivotif is used to prevent typhoid fever, a bacterial infection spread through contaminated food and water. It is recommended for travelers visiting regions with poor sanitation or high typhoid risk. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to recognize and fight Salmonella Typhi bacteria. It is not a treatment for active typhoid infection.

After taking Vivotif, the body’s immune system learns to recognize the weakened bacteria, preparing it to fight future infections. Some people may experience mild stomach discomfort or low-grade fever. These effects are usually temporary and indicate the body’s response to the vaccine.

Store Vivotif capsules in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Keep the vaccine in its original packaging to protect it from light. Do not freeze or expose the capsules to heat. Discard any capsules left unused after the expiration date. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you have a weakened immune system.

Avoid taking Vivotif with antibiotics or other live vaccines, as they may reduce its effectiveness. Do not use Vivotif within 72 hours of taking chloroquine or similar malaria medications. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and vaccines you are currently taking.
