Vivotif

Vivotif is an oral typhoid vaccine containing live, attenuated Salmonella Typhi bacteria. It helps protect against typhoid fever caused by the bacteria. Suitable for travelers to high-risk areas and those in close contact with carriers. Short-term immunity is provided after completion of the full vaccination course.

Vivotif is used to prevent typhoid fever, a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella Typhi. It is commonly recommended for travelers visiting regions where typhoid is prevalent. The vaccine is also used for people who may have close contact with typhoid carriers. It does not treat existing infections but helps the body build immunity before exposure.

After taking Vivotif, the body’s immune system responds by producing antibodies against Salmonella Typhi. Some people may experience mild effects such as low-grade fever or mild stomach upset. These effects are generally short-lived and indicate the vaccine is working to stimulate the immune response.

Vivotif should be stored properly to maintain its effectiveness. Keep the vaccine refrigerated and protected from light until use. Do not use if the packaging is damaged or the appearance of the capsules has changed. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you have a weakened immune system or a fever.

Vivotif may interact with certain medications, including antibiotics and immunosuppressants. Avoid taking antibiotics for at least 24 hours before and after vaccination, as they may reduce effectiveness. Live vaccines should not be given close to other live vaccines unless directed by a healthcare provider.
