Zyvoxid

Zyvoxid (linezolid) is an intravenous antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It belongs to the oxazolidinone class and works against gram-positive bacteria. This medication is prescribed when other antibiotics are ineffective or unsuitable.

Linezolid is commonly used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). It may also be prescribed for skin and soft tissue infections, as well as certain types of pneumonia. This medication is typically used when other treatments have not been effective.

As an antibiotic, linezolid works by stopping the growth of bacteria, allowing the body's immune system to clear the infection.
