Zepilen

Zepilen (Cefazolin) is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. This injectable form is administered via intramuscular or intravenous routes for systemic infection control. It targets a wide range of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria.

Zepilen is commonly used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bone and joint infections. It may also be prescribed for surgical prophylaxis to prevent infection before procedures. This antibiotic works by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis.

As an antibiotic, Zepilen helps reduce symptoms associated with bacterial infections such as fever, inflammation, and localized pain. Patients may experience improvement in infection-related discomfort within days of starting treatment. It does not treat viral infections like colds or flu.

Zepilen should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from moisture. Patients with known allergies to penicillin or other cephalosporins should avoid this medication. Always inform your healthcare provider about current medications and medical conditions before use.

Zepilen may interact with certain medications, including blood thinners and other antibiotics. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment due to potential adverse reactions. Probenecid may increase the levels of Zepilen in the blood.
