Xofluza

Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza (flu) in adults and children. It works by reducing the ability of flu viruses to multiply in the body. This prescription-only treatment is taken orally.

Xofluza is primarily used to treat acute uncomplicated influenza in patients who have been symptomatic for no more than 48 hours. It may also be prescribed for post-exposure prevention of flu in individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with influenza. The medication targets influenza A and B viruses, helping to shorten the duration of flu symptoms. It is not a substitute for annual flu vaccination.

After taking Xofluza, some users report a reduction in flu symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches within a few days. The medication works by interfering with viral replication, which may help limit the spread of the virus in the body. Most people tolerate it well, though individual responses can vary.

Xofluza should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to baloxavir marboxil or any of its components. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all medications and conditions before starting treatment. Keep the medication in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not use expired medication.

Xofluza may interact with certain medications, including polyvalent cation-containing products like antacids, laxatives, or supplements. These should be taken at least 2 hours before or after Xofluza. Caution is advised when combining with live vaccines, as the antiviral effect might reduce vaccine efficacy.
