Xgeva

Xgeva (Denosumab) is a prescription medication used to help prevent bone complications in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. It belongs to a class of drugs known as RANK ligand inhibitors. Xgeva is administered as a subcutaneous injection.

Xgeva is primarily used to reduce the risk of bone fractures, spinal cord compression, or the need for radiation or surgery to bone in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors. It may also be used to treat giant cell tumors of the bone that cannot be surgically removed. Xgeva works by slowing bone breakdown and helping to maintain bone strength.

Xgeva helps maintain bone density and reduce the risk of bone-related complications. Patients may experience improved mobility and reduced pain associated with bone metastases. Common effects include temporary injection site reactions like redness or swelling.

Xgeva should be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Patients with low blood calcium levels should have this condition corrected before starting treatment.
