Xevudy

Xevudy (sotrovimab) is an antiviral medication used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults and children. It is designed to reduce the risk of severe disease progression. This product is administered via intravenous infusion under medical supervision.

Xevudy is primarily used for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in patients who are at high risk of progressing to severe disease. It may also be considered for post-exposure prophylaxis in certain cases. The medication works by binding to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, helping to neutralize its effects. It is not a substitute for vaccination.

Xevudy is designed to reduce viral load and may help alleviate symptoms associated with COVID-19. Patients may experience a decrease in fever, cough, and fatigue as the medication takes effect. The onset of action varies by individual, and full benefits may require several days to become apparent.

Xevudy should only be administered by healthcare professionals in a clinical setting equipped for intravenous therapy. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to monoclonal antibodies should inform their provider. Monitoring for infusion-related reactions is recommended during and after administration.

Limited data exist on drug interactions with sotrovimab. However, as a monoclonal antibody, it is unlikely to interact with other medications metabolized by the liver. Caution is advised when co-administering with other antiviral or immunomodulatory therapies. Always disclose all medications to your healthcare provider.
