Xeomin

Xeomin is a purified botulinum toxin type A used for temporary muscle relaxation and symptom relief. This injectable neurotoxin is free of complexing proteins and is commonly used in aesthetic and therapeutic procedures. It is supplied as a sterile, vacuum-dried powder for reconstitution.

Xeomin is primarily used for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. It is also used to treat certain muscle spasms, including cervical dystonia and blepharospasm. The medication works by blocking nerve signals in the targeted muscles, leading to temporary muscle relaxation.

After injection, Xeomin typically begins to take effect within 2–5 days, with peak results visible around 1–2 weeks. The effects are temporary and generally last 3–6 months, depending on the treatment area and individual response. Some patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or discomfort at the injection site.

Xeomin should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional experienced in the use of injectable neurotoxins. Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours after injection to prevent spreading the toxin to other areas. Patients with neuromuscular disorders or infections at the injection site should consult a healthcare provider before use.

Xeomin may interact with medications that affect neuromuscular transmission, such as aminoglycoside antibiotics or muscle relaxants, potentially increasing the risk of side effects.
