Xalvide (Latanoprost) is an eye drop used to treat high pressure inside the eye, including conditions like glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This prostaglandin analog helps maintain eye health by reducing fluid buildup. Suitable for adults and seniors, it supports long-term vision care.

Latanoprost eye drops are primarily used to lower intraocular pressure, which can help prevent damage to the optic nerve. It is commonly prescribed for open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The medication works by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye, reducing pressure over time. Patients often use it as part of a daily eye care routine.

After application, latanoprost may cause a gradual change in eye color, as it can increase pigmentation in the iris. Some users notice darker, thicker eyelashes over time. Temporary mild irritation, redness, or a slight stinging sensation may occur when first using the drops. These effects are usually mild and tend to lessen with continued use.

Store unopened bottles in a cool, dry place away from light. Once opened, keep the bottle tightly closed and use within 28 days to prevent contamination. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye, to reduce infection risk. Contact lenses should be removed before applying the drops and can be reinserted after 15 minutes.

No significant drug interactions are commonly reported with latanoprost eye drops. However, using other eye medications may affect absorption; wait at least 5 minutes between applications. Combining with high doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) could potentially reduce effectiveness. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications in use.
