Xalatan (Latanoprost) is an eye drop solution used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in conditions like open-angle glaucoma. This prostaglandin analog helps maintain eye health by improving fluid drainage. Suitable for adults, it offers a convenient once-daily application.

Xalatan is primarily used to lower high pressure inside the eye, which can help prevent damage to the optic nerve. It is commonly prescribed for open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension when other treatments are not suitable. Some patients may also use it to manage pressure after eye surgery.

Many users notice gradual improvement in eye pressure readings within weeks of starting Xalatan. The solution may cause a mild warming or tingling sensation upon application, which typically subsides quickly. Some people report temporary changes in eyelash growth or slight darkening of the iris over time.

Store Xalatan in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye, to reduce infection risk. Contact lenses should be removed before application and can be reinserted after 15 minutes.

No significant drug interactions are widely reported with Xalatan, but always inform your healthcare provider about all medications you use. Combining with other eye drops may require a 5-minute interval between applications. Alcohol consumption does not typically interfere with this medication.
