Xalatan

Xalatan (Latanoprost) is an eye drop solution used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure. This prostaglandin analog helps manage conditions like open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Suitable for adults, it supports eye health by lowering pressure in the eye.

Latanoprost is primarily used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension by reducing high pressure within the eye. It belongs to a class of medications called prostaglandin analogs, which work by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye. This helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and maintain vision. Xalatan is often prescribed when other treatments are ineffective or not tolerated.

After application, latanoprost typically begins working within a few hours, with noticeable effects on eye pressure within 12 hours. Users may experience mild eye discomfort, redness, or a slight darkening of the iris over time. Some people report temporary blurred vision or a sensation of foreign objects in the eye after instilling the drops.

Store Xalatan in a cool, dry place away from direct light and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye, to reduce infection risk. Discard any remaining solution after the recommended duration to ensure potency and safety.

While Xalatan has minimal systemic absorption, it may interact with other eye medications if used simultaneously. Wait at least 5 minutes between applying different eye drops to prevent dilution or interference. No significant interactions with oral medications have been widely reported, but always inform your healthcare provider about all treatments you are using.
