Vizilatan

Vizilatan (Latanoprost) is an eye drop solution prescribed to reduce high pressure in the eye, often associated with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. This prostaglandin analog helps maintain eye health by improving fluid drainage. Suitable for adults and children under medical supervision.

Vizilatan is primarily used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye, which helps prevent optic nerve damage. This medication is not a cure but helps manage the condition long-term. It may also be prescribed for other eye pressure-related issues as determined by a healthcare provider.

After application, Vizilatan typically starts working within a few hours, with peak effects seen after 12 hours. Users may notice a gradual reduction in eye pressure over time. Some individuals report temporary mild eye discomfort, redness, or a slight darkening of the iris or eyelid skin. These effects are generally mild and often subside with continued use.

Vizilatan should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination. Contact lenses should be removed before application and can be reinserted after 15 minutes. Patients with a history of eye inflammation or certain eye conditions should use this medication with caution.

While Vizilatan has a low risk of systemic interactions, it may interact with other eye medications, especially those containing thiomersal. Combining multiple eye drops should be spaced at least 5 minutes apart to avoid dilution. Alcohol and certain systemic medications may influence eye pressure, but direct interactions with Vizilatan are uncommon.
