Triaxis

Triaxis is an adult booster vaccine combining aluminium phosphate with diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis toxoids. It helps maintain immunity against these diseases in adolescents and adults. This combination vaccine is administered via injection for routine immunization updates.

Triaxis is used as a booster vaccine to protect against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis in individuals aged 11 through 64 years. It is designed for those who have previously completed a primary vaccination series. The vaccine helps sustain immunity levels over time, reducing the risk of infection during outbreaks. It is commonly recommended before travel or during pregnancy for certain individuals.

After vaccination with Triaxis, the immune system recognizes the toxoids and produces antibodies to fight future infections. Mild reactions such as soreness at the injection site or low-grade fever may occur. These effects typically resolve within a few days and indicate the body is building protection. Most people tolerate the vaccine well with no significant discomfort.

Triaxis should be stored refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C and protected from light. Do not freeze. Before administration, check for discoloration or particles; discard if present. Ensure the recipient has no history of severe allergic reactions to previous doses or components like neomycin. Healthcare providers should observe recipients for at least 15 minutes post-vaccination.

Triaxis may be given with other vaccines, but separate injection sites are recommended. Immunosuppressive therapies, such as corticosteroids or chemotherapy, may reduce vaccine effectiveness. Live vaccines should not be administered within 4 weeks of Triaxis unless medically advised. Always inform your healthcare provider about current medications or treatments.
