Tocieta

Tocieta (Eltrombopag Olamine) is an oral medication used to support blood platelet production. It belongs to the thrombopoietin receptor agonist class, aiding patients with low platelet counts. This product is manufactured by Zentiva, K.S. and is available in the EU.

Eltrombopag Olamine is primarily used to increase platelet counts in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to other treatments. It may also be prescribed for patients with hepatitis C-related thrombocytopenia to help them start and maintain interferon-based therapy. This medication helps reduce the need for platelet transfusions and lowers bleeding risks associated with low platelet levels.

Tocieta works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce more platelets, which are essential for blood clotting. Patients may notice fewer signs of easy bruising or prolonged bleeding over time. Regular blood tests are typically required to monitor platelet levels and adjust treatment as needed.

Store Tocieta at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the medication in its original packaging until ready to use. Always check the expiration date before taking a dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but skip it if it’s almost time for the next scheduled dose.

Certain medications may affect how Tocieta works, including antacids, multivitamins, and supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium, or zinc. These should be taken at least 4 hours before or after Tocieta to avoid interference. Always inform your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products you are using.
