Алкаин

Алкаин is an ophthalmic solution containing Proxymetacaine Hydrochloride, a topical anesthetic for eye procedures. It provides rapid numbing of the eye surface for short-term pain relief during examinations or minor interventions. Suitable for adults and children under medical supervision.

Алкаин is used to numb the eye surface before diagnostic procedures like tonometry or gonioscopy. It may also be applied before minor eye surgeries to reduce discomfort during instrument contact. This anesthetic effect helps patients tolerate eye exams more comfortably. It is not intended for long-term pain management.

Алкаин works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the eye, resulting in a numbing sensation within seconds of application. The effect typically lasts 10–20 minutes, allowing time for procedures without significant discomfort. Some users may experience mild stinging or blurred vision immediately after use.

Keep the bottle tightly closed and avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination. Do not use if the solution changes color or contains particles. Discard any remaining solution after the recommended use period. Consult a healthcare provider if eye irritation persists after application.

No significant drug interactions are reported with Алкаин when used as directed. However, concurrent use of other eye medications may affect absorption—space applications by at least 5–10 minutes. Avoid rubbing the eye after use to prevent accidental injury. Always inform your provider about all medications being used.
