Ofloxacin eye drops are commonly used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections caused by susceptible bacteria. They may also be prescribed for corneal ulcers or infections following eye injuries. This medication helps reduce redness, swelling, and discharge associated with eye infections. It is not effective against viral or fungal eye infections.

When applied as directed, ofloxacin eye drops typically reduce symptoms like itching, burning, and watery eyes within a few days. Some users may experience temporary blurred vision or mild stinging immediately after application. These effects are usually short-lived and do not require medical attention unless they persist.

Wash your hands before and after using ofloxacin eye drops to avoid contamination. Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent bacterial transfer. Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication if you have an active eye infection. Store the bottle at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Ofloxacin eye drops have minimal systemic absorption, so interactions with other medications are rare. However, if you use other eye medications, wait at least 5–10 minutes between applications to allow proper absorption. Avoid using other eye drops containing preservatives like benzalkonium chloride unless directed by a healthcare provider.
