Sublicen is primarily used for managing breakthrough pain in adults who are already receiving and tolerant to around-the-clock opioid therapy for chronic cancer pain. It is not intended for acute or postoperative pain. The sublingual route allows for rapid onset of action, making it suitable for sudden pain episodes. It is also used off-label for severe chronic pain requiring fast relief.

Users typically experience pain relief within 5 to 15 minutes after administration. The effects can last for several hours, depending on individual response. Commonly reported effects include drowsiness, dizziness, or a feeling of warmth. Some may notice a mild tingling sensation under the tongue during absorption.

Store in a secure, child-resistant container away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidental ingestion. Avoid alcohol and other central nervous system depressants while using this medication. Do not share this medication with others, even if they have similar symptoms.

Concurrent use with alcohol, benzodiazepines, or other opioids may increase the risk of respiratory depression. CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as certain antifungals or macrolide antibiotics, can increase fentanyl levels in the blood. Grapefruit juice may also affect metabolism.
