Селемицин (Amikacin) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic prescribed for severe bacterial infections. This broad-spectrum medication is used when other antibiotics may not be effective. Store below 25°C, protect from light. Not for self-administration.

Amikacin is used to treat serious infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, including sepsis, respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections. It may also be used for intra-abdominal infections and certain bone infections. Amikacin works by stopping bacterial growth, making it effective for infections resistant to other antibiotics.

Amikacin may reduce fever and improve symptoms within days when the infection is bacterial. Patients often report reduced pain or discomfort associated with the infection site. Improvement in lab markers like white blood cell count may also be observed during treatment.

Amikacin should only be handled and administered by healthcare professionals. Patients with kidney problems, hearing issues, or neuromuscular disorders should inform their doctor before use. Regular monitoring of kidney function and hearing is recommended during treatment.

Amikacin may interact with other medications affecting the kidneys or hearing, such as certain diuretics or other antibiotics. Combining it with muscle relaxants or anesthetics may increase the risk of side effects. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment.
